Jason Kelce Says Travis ‘Crossed the Line’ With Andy Reid in Super Bowl

Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce told his brother, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, that he “crossed the line” during his heated exchange with coach Andy Reid during the second quarter of Super Bowl LVIII.

Early in the Chiefs’ eventual Super Bowl win, broadcast cameras captured Travis bumping into Reid while yelling after the Chiefs’ third offensive drive ended with a fumble by running back Isiah Pacheco.

“You crossed the line. I think we can both agree on that,” Jason said on the latest episode of their podcast, New Heights. “Let’s be honest, the yelling in his face, too, is over the top. I think there are better ways to handle this, retrospectively.”

Travis acknowledged he overstepped and said he “can’t get that fired up” to the point where he is “bumping coach and it’s getting him off balance and stuff.”

Travis later added that he only wants to play for Reid and that if Reid were to retire, he would follow suit.

The incident was much talked about after the Chiefs won 25-22 in overtime, but Reid made light of the incident.

“He caught me off balance,” Reid said. “I wasn’t watching. He was really coming over (and saying), ‘Just put me in, I’ll score. I’ll score.’ So, that’s really what it was. I love that. It’s not the first time. I appreciate him.”

Reid went on to say he loves Kelce’s passion, saying “it’s not a selfish thing.”

“As much as he bumps into me, I get after him and we understand that. He just caught me off balance.”
